Rowan County missing child investigation leads to statutory rape charges against 19-year-old woman

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (News Release — On September 7, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office began investigating a possible sex offense, which was secondary to a missing person call, in which a juvenile had been reported missing by the parents.

Investigators were able to determine that the missing juvenile had been discovered by deputies to be in the company of 19-year-old Caroline Poole.

Rowan County Statutory Rape Arrest

Poole and the juvenile were friends, but the parents did not know Poole and were unaware of their relationship.

During the investigation, electronic devices were examined, and it was determined that the alleged offender, 19-year-old Caroline Poole, was in a sexual relationship with the juvenile.

Caroline Poole is facing the following charges:

  • Statutory Rape of a Person <=15 years old
  • Statutory Sex Offense with a Person <=15 years old
