Another Chilly Evening with Our Next Weather Maker Approaching

Another clear but chilly night

We’re heading into another cold night, with crisp air settling in. Temperatures will dip back below freezing again tonight, allowing for a cold chilly evening and start to your Thursday.

Thursday will start fairly calm, but don’t let that fool you with clouds moving in and will begin to thicken up as the day goes on. Highs will land in the low 50s, still chilly but manageable. Think light jacket weather, not full winter gear.

Our next storm system pulls in late Thursday into Friday, and that’s when things get more interesting. If you’re north of I-40, you may see a wintry mix develop overnight with some sleet, a few snowflakes, and a touch of freezing rain. Location matters in this entire situation because different precip. types will impact certain areas. few isolated slick spots are definitely possible early Friday.

For Charlotte Metro and areas southward, the cold might not be enough for wintry weather, but it will be enough to keep the rain feeling raw and uncomfortable. Friday’s highs may not even reach 40 degrees.

As we roll into the weekend, a small chance for spotty rain hangs around, but nothing that looks like a washout. Temperatures will slowly start to warm, giving us a gradual break from the deep chill.

Bundle up tonight, watch for those slick spots if you’re north of the metro, and keep the umbrella handy as you will need it again before the week is over.
