Cloudy start to Tuesday before turning sunny

Heading for a big December warm-up

A big warm-up is on the way for our region this week. Weโ€™re tracking a noticeable shift in our weather pattern, and itโ€™s going to feel more like spring than winter as we head toward Christmas.

Tonight, clouds stick around and temperatures stay on the mild side for December standards. It wonโ€™t be a cold night by any means, with lows settling into the 40s, so no heavy layers needed if youโ€™re heading out this evening.

Weโ€™ll keep those clouds around through Tuesday, but donโ€™t let theย decreasingย cloudsย fool you. Even with the cloud cover, temperatures will be climbing steadily. By midweek, highs move out of the 60s and into the 70s, just in time for Christmas Day.

70s grace us going intoย Christmasย Day! Not exactly sweater weather, but certainly great if youโ€™re traveling, hosting family, or sneaking in some time outdoors. The warmth doesnโ€™t stop thereย as we head intoย Saturday, some spots could flirt with 80 degrees, which is well above average for this time of year.

A cooldown arrives Sunday, bringing temperatures back closer to normal. So, enjoy the warmth while it lastsย asย this is one of those stretches that feels like a bonus before the chill eventually makes its return.
