Clear and Cold Tonight Before New Year Changes

A warming trend moves in Wednesday

Stepping out tonight just know this is the chilliest stretch of the week. Temperatures will top out in the low to mid-40s, with a light breeze around 5 to 10 mph. Tonight will be another cold one, with lows dropping into the mid-20s, similar to what we saw first thing this morning.

By Wednesday, the weather starts to mellow out. We’ll hang on to dry conditions, winds won’t be as noticeable, and temperatures inch back toward more typical late-December numbers. In Charlotte Metro, highs should land in the low to mid-50s. Expect plenty of sunshine to start the day, with a few additional clouds building in later as we close out the year.

As we roll into the New Year, the quiet weather pattern continues. High pressure remains in charge Thursday and Friday, keeping things dry and a bit milder. Morning temperatures will begin in the low to mid-30s, while afternoon highs rebound into the mid-50s which is right around average, if not a touch warmer.

Clouds thicken up by Friday as the next weather system approaches, bringing a slight chance for rain Friday night. Some of that rain will linger into Saturday, as the exact timing is still coming into focus.

By Sunday, drier air looks to move back in!
