Mountain snow and gusty conditions moving in

Tonight remains partly cloudy with a cold air mass settling in.

That pattern continues into Friday morning as temperatures are expected to fall back into the mid-20s overnight. Any moisture left behind from melting snow or recent rain could refreeze. Black ice is something to watch for which can make roads, sidewalks, bridges, and overpasses slippery. By the afternoon highs will climb into the upper 40s, and we should see a good amount of sunshine. After a cold start, it’ll actually feel pretty nice by late day.

In the High Country a different pattern is developing with a Winter Weather Advisory in place starting tomorrow afternoon into early Saturday. Snow is expected through the day on Friday, where some spots could pick up around 1 to 2 inches of snow, and even higher totals likely at our ski areas. As of now, there are no widespread winter weather watches or advisories in place for the lower elevations.

Winds will also be gusty Friday across sections of the Foothills with a High Wind Watch will go into place tomorrow afternoon. It’s likely they will expand this watch into more counties.

This weekend remains quiet with Saturday being the pick day of the weekend with bright sunny skies and temperatures still below average in the lower to mid 40s.  But the thaw is coming! We have multiple days next week where highs return to the 60s!
