Federal judge dismisses charges against Charlotte man arrested by ICE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed the case against a Charlotte man brought on by the U.S. Border Patrol back in November.

24-year-old Miguel Martinez was arrested by federal agents during Operation Charlotte’s Web. Martinez is a U.S. citizen. At the time, DHS accused Martinez of trying to use his car to “assault, resist or impede” federal officers. Martinez has said he was trying to record ICE officers during their immigration enforcement operations, before they went after him.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office told NPR news, “Where it is just and proper to dismiss a case, we won’t hesitate to do so.”
