Alarm malfunction sends local high school into lockdown

BELMONT, N.C. – All clear at South Point High School after a tense start to the day on Wednesday. The Gaston county school went into lockdown after an alarm malfunctioned around 8:22 AM.

Gaston County Police say officers cleared the campus before nine AM. They found no threat to students or staff.

Gaston County Police is working in coordination with Gaston County Schools to identify the cause of the alarm malfunction so it doesn’t happen again.
