23-year-old woman charged with murder in stabbing death

CORNELIUS, N.C. – A woman is behind bars after police in Cornelius say she stabbed a man to death early Wednesday morning. It happened around one AM on Ruffner Drive.

Officers say 23-year-old Makayla Hooks murdered 24-year-old Demetri McGruder. Hooks is charged with second-degree murder.

There’s no word on what led up to that violence.
