1 shot, 1 hit by vehicle in University Area shopping center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – MEDIC says two people have life-threatening injuries, after one of them was shot and the other was hit by a car in University City. It happened at the Leslie Square Shopping Center. Witnesses describe a chaotic scene, with people running after shots were fired.

Witness Avianna Castillo tells WCCB, “Basically there was a little bit of commotion in front the tobacco shop, between the ice cream shop, some started laying off some shots and people started fleeing the scene got a little hectic and someone got hit by a car.”

We reached out to CMPD and have not heard back.
