New historical marker in Plaza Midwood honoring the late Rev. Billy Graham

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – There’s a new historical marker in Plaza Midwood honoring the late Reverend Billy Graham. It’s at the site of a new mixed-used development at Central and Pecan Avenues, where a then 15-year-old Graham attended a tent revival in 1934 that would influence his decision go into ministry.

Graham’s grandson, Will Graham, says the future reverend was then known as “Billy Frank.” Graham says, “And very few people knew who that young Billy Frank was when he gave his life to Christ, right here in this place.”

The historic marker features a bronze plaque on a stone base, engraved with a Bible verse. Graham passed away in 2018.
