Local students get new sneakers and socks thanks to Nordstrom Rack & Operation Warm
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Some brand new kicks for more than 300 students in southwest Charlotte on Tuesday! Nordstrom Rack and non-profit Operation Warm surprised students at South Pine Academy with new shoes and socks. Organizers say that because kids outgrow their shoes so fast, it’s a big need for families.
The school’s assistant principal tells WCCB the students didn’t know what was happening. Griselda Perez says, “Our students, we actually kept it as a surprise to them, so that when they came into the gym and saw this happening, it was a surprise for them.”
Organizers say the new shoes also give kids new confidence and energy. This was one of 11 shoe giveaways across the country by Nordstrom Rack and Operation Warm.
