Drought relief in sight

Tracking overnight rain for most

For the first time in 3 weeks, rain is falling or about to begin across the majority of the WCCB viewing area. A small low pressure system is helping to create a rainy evening that will last on and off through the overnight. Things look to be dry once again by Sunday morning with temperatures in the low 60s. Sunday afternoon will be dependent on location. Most will see sunshine with highs in the mid 70s. However, some NE of the metro could see increased clouds with temperatures in the 60s.

By the start of the new week, sunshine will be plentiful with temperatures in the mid 70s for most. So quite literally, the desirable sunny and 75 on Monday. After that, chances at drought relief look to rise with two different systems approaching Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday looks like the better rain chance, with total precipitation amounts of an inch or so possible through Wednesday night.

This won’t be anywhere close to enough rain to get rid of the drought, but anything to stop it from worsening will be welcome by all. This also won’t eliminate the wildfire threat as a statewide burn ban remains in effect for both Carolinas until further notice. The active weather pattern this week also looks to keep temperatures cooler than in past weeks, with most days in the 70s!
