Man shot at home in Mooresville

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – An investigation is underway after a man was shot at a home in Mooresville on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 3:45 p.m., deputies responded to Mott Road in regards to a report of someone being shot.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man with a gunshot wound in a vehicle in the driveway of the home. The victim told deputies that he was shot by an unknown person. He was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that a physical altercation occurred at the residence between two women and the victim. During the altercation, deputies said a firearm was discharged and the victim was struck in the chest.

Deputies said the victim brought the weapon to the home. Investigators also located narcotics inside the home, the sheriff’s office said.

The incident remains under investigation. Criminal charges may be forthcoming, deputies said.
