A chilly Sunday ahead

Tracking the next chance of rain

After a dreary Saturday, Sunshine is on the way back into the forecast for Sunday! As expected, areas south of I-85 saw some rain today, but totals were far from impressive, with everyone in the area that saw rain staying generally under half an inch. That means that unfortunately, our drought is basically right where it was before today.

As clouds clear tonight, expect a cold one thanks to a cold wind out of the north working in. Lows tomorrow morning will bottom out in the lower 40s in the Piedmont, and near freezing in the High Country where a freeze warning is in place. Frost advisories are also in place for parts of the foothills where temperatures could fall to the mid 30s. So make sure to cover those plants tonight in those locations! Tomorrow sunshine will be abundant, but temperatures remain chilly with highs struggling to find 70 for the majority of us.

By Monday, the warming trend begins with dry weather maintaining through Tuesday. By Wednesday, our next system approaches from the west, helping to increase the chance for showers and storms Wednesday and Thursday. This looks to bring a good chance of rain, but totals will once again likely be far from impactful. After that, cooler air once again works in by next Friday.
