Warmer temperatures to start the week
Tracking the next rain chance
Warmer air is making a return for the start of a new week as our May chill erodes thanks to winds from the SW. Monday morning will once again be chilly with morning lows in the mid 40s for the Piedmont, but we warm up nicely with afternoon highs not far from 80. Sunshine will be abundant, and will stay that way for Tuesday where highs will be a few degrees warmer across the region.
Signs of change arrive on Wednesday as an active dip in the jet stream provides the lift needed for a round of showers and storms to our west. Some of these could work into the WCCB area as early as Wednesday, especially in the High Country. It looks like the bulk of this moisture will arrive overnight Wednesday and could linger into Thursday. This is obviously welcomed as we continue to fight a record drought.
As for the end of the week ahead, things get a bit tricky with the data. Some models show a southern slider that could introduce clouds, cooler temperatures, and potentially even rain. Other models keep sunshine. Either way, temperatures look to be no higher than the 70s. The bigger question is cloud cover and rainfall chances. The WCCB weather team will keep you updated on that forecast in the week ahead!
