Man tied to Brooks Sandwich House shooting convicted in 3 more murders

A convicted killer tied to one of Charlotte’s most heartbreaking murders is now linked to even more bloodshed.

Steven Staples, already serving life in prison for the 2019 killing of beloved Brooks Sandwich House owner Scott Brooks, has now been convicted in three additional murders.

Staples pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder in court Friday.

Prosecutors say the killings happened in a violent spree just weeks after Brooks’ murder, cementing Staples as one of Charlotte’s most notorious convicted killers.
