Charlotte father charged with murdering his eight-month-old son

CHALROTTE, N.C. – A father is in jail accused of killing his eight-month-old son in east Charlotte.

According to court documents, Nieves Acosta-Maldonado admitted to forcefully putting the baby in a crib several times while watching him on May 3rd, dropping him on his back and shaking the baby.

Several hours later, 911 received a call about the baby being unresponsive. The Medical Examiner’s office says the baby died several days later from abusive head trauma.

Acosta-Maldonado is charged with first degree murder and felony child abuse
