Civil War-era explosive found in Albemarle

Albemarle Police say a homeowner found what appears to be a Civil War-era explosive device in Long Creek.

Police responded to a home on Hickory Avenue near West Main Street around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

They say out of an abundance of caution, police, fire, and other crews all worked to safely dispose of that item.

No other details have been released.
