Black bear spotted in Charlotte’s Highland Creek neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A black bear has been spotted in a Charlotte neighborhood.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission says a person who lives in the Highland Creek neighborhood says they spotted the bear Wednesday night, eating from a bird feeder.

Wildlife officials say this is not unusual, and says if you see one, leave it alone and let it keep moving.

Reports of bear sightings in the Piedmont spike from Memorial Day weekend through early summer.
