A wanted man was arrested in southwest Charlotte after police seized a firearm, narcotics, and thousands of dollars in cash, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers with CMPD’s Crime Reduction Unit conducted a search warrant on a vehicle after they noticed wanted criminal Derrick Pope got into. In the search, police said they seized firearms, narcotics, and over $13,000 in cash.
Police said they then searched Pope’s residence where another firearm and more narcotics and cash were taken.
In both searches, police seized two firearms, 746.8 grams of suspected marijuana, over 60 grams of suspected cocaine, more than 25 grams of suspected MDMA, and 10 suspects oxycodone pills, and over $40,000 in U.S. currency.
Pope, 38, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and also charged with the following:
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule II
- 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver MDMA
- 2 counts of Maintaining a Dwelling
- 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana
- Felony Possession of Marijuana
- Trafficking Cocaine
- Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine
