A Clover Police Department officer was arrested Thursday on domestic violence charges, police said.
Chester County deputies received a call around 5:30 p.m. in regards to a domestic violence incident involving a boyfriend and a girlfriend.
The girlfriend was identified as Clover Police officer Mara Anderton, who allegedly threatened her boyfriend with a firearm.
Anderton, 44, was charged with domestic violence high and aggravated, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and resisting arrest.
“The Clover police department holds all offices to a high standard and incidents like this will not be tolerated,” Clover Police Chief Randy Grice said.
An internal investigation is underway. Anderton has been placed on administrative leave without pay, police said.
