Clear evening with rising temperatures starting Friday

Building heat into the weekend

*AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 8 PM EDT FRIDAY FOR MECKLENBURG COUNTY AND A FEW SURROUNDING COUNTY*
The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services has issued a Code Orange Ground Level Ozone Action Day for the Upstate region of South Carolina, from 10 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday

After several days of pleasant weather, the sunshine continues as we head toward the end of the week. Tonight conditions remain on the clear side with lows in the lower to mid 60s.

The warming trend continues Friday as temperatures climb a few degrees higher, reaching the upper 80s under plenty of sunshine. While the weather remains quiet, you’ll definitely notice a more summer-like feel developing across the area.

That summer feel becomes even more noticeable this weekend, but heat and humidity will be on the rise. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach around 90 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday, and the increasing moisture in the air will make it feel even warmer. Heat index values will likely climb into the lower to middle 90s during the hottest part of the day.

If you’ll be spending time outdoors this weekend, make sure to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and try to limit strenuous activities during the afternoon.
