Humid air with more widespread rain Tuesday
Building heat and humidity
The best opportunity for more widespread rainfall arrives on Tuesday. Clouds will be the theme of the day helping keep temperatures a little cooler, with afternoon highs settling into the middle 80s. Rain and storm chances increase during the afternoon and evening hours, and while we’re not expecting severe weather, any steady rainfall will be welcome news.
By Wednesday, our weather pattern settles into a typical summertime routine. Expect a combination of sun and clouds with warm and humid conditions returning. Afternoon temperatures climb back toward the upper 80s, and once again, a few scattered showers and thunderstorms could bubble up during the hottest part of the day. These will be the hit-or-miss variety, meaning some locations may get a quick downpour while others stay dry.
Looking ahead to Thursday, the atmosphere becomes less favorable for rain as drier air gradually moves into the Carolinas. Sunshine will become more dominant, rain chances will fade, and temperatures will quickly respond. Afternoon highs are expected to return to the lower 90s, bringing a much hotter feel as we head toward the end of the week.
