Buc-ee’s breaks ground on first North Carolina location
MEBANE, N.C. – Buc-ee’s has broken ground on its first North Carolina location.
The Texas-based travel center is going into Alamance County at the interchange of I-40 and I-85.
There will be 650 parking spaces, and 120 gas pumps. Buc-ee’s owner Arch “Beaver” Aplin is defending critics who say the huge gas station will create traffic headaches.
“Yes, we will generate traffic. Most of the traffic we generate is going up and down the interstate anyway.”
The new Buc-ee’s will provide 200 full-time jobs starting at $18 an hour with full benefits. It’s expected to open sometime next year.
