Pineville Police Chief announces retirement

The Pineville Police Chief is calling it a career after 31 years of law enforcement service.

Chief Michael Hudgins has served as the Chief of PPD since 2020.

During his tenure, Hudgins implemented evidence-based crime reduction strategies that cut crime by 35% over his five-and-a-half-year tenure. He also maintained case clearance rates consistently above the national average, successfully solving violent crime cases to keep Pineville as one of the safest communities in the region, according to the news release.

Hudgins announced he will retire on July 1. The Town of Pineville appointed Assistant Chief Corey Copley as interim police chief.

According to the release, Copley has 25 years of dedicated service with the Pineville Police Department.
