NC lawmakers push bill to strengthen penalties for adults who expose minors to explicit content
RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina lawmakers are working to advance the Protect Children from Pornography Act. House Bill 83 is designed to strengthen penalties for adults who expose minors to explicit content. The legislation would make it easier to prosecute offenders who send obscene material to children online, and increase penalties when victims are younger than 13.
Supporters say the bill closes gaps in current law and provides stronger protections for children in an increasingly digital world.
The measure now moves through the General Assembly as lawmakers debate how best to safeguard minors from online exploitation.
