Scattered storms this afternoon and evening

Heat index values still above 100°

After days of brutal heat and that heavy, stagnant summer air, we’re finally starting to see the pattern loosen a little. It’s not exactly a cool-down, but we are heading toward a more unsettled stretch with better rain chances and a little relief from the nonstop heat.

Monday brings another steamy afternoon with temperatures climbing into the mid 90s. When you add in the humidity, it’ll still feel close to 100 degrees at times, so it’s definitely another day to take it easy if you’re spending time outside. The big difference is that scattered thunderstorms are expected to fire up later this afternoon and continue into the evening. Some of those storms could pack a punch with torrential rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. The timing won’t be the same for everyone, though. Some spots may catch a storm before dinner, while others may stay dry until later tonight.

Tuesday brings more of the same summer setup, with warm and humid conditions sticking around and highs settling into the lower 90s. We’ll once again have the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. This won’t be a washout but you will want t stay weather wise as these storm will be in and out. The rest of the week the storm chances start to decrease with more activity likely this weekend. Stay tuned!
