Lingering showers and clouds to start Tuesday
Building heat by midweek
Tonight a few brief showers and storms are still possible this evening, but they’ll continue to fade as we lose the daytime heating. The overall threat for heavy rain will come to an end. Overnight lows will settle into the upper 60s in the mountains and the low to mid-70s across the Piedmont under cloudy skies.
Tuesday morning starts with a few lingering showers and cloudy skies until early afternoon. By the afternoon, sunshine will become much more common, and you’ll definitely notice the difference. Highs will reach the low 70s in the mountains and the mid to upper 80s across the Piedmont with dry air moving back in.
Wednesday and Thursday, expect plenty of sunshine from start to finish, with heat building once again. Temperatures will top out around 80 degrees in the mountains, while Charlotte and much of the Piedmont warm to around 90 degrees. By Thursday and Friday heat index values are near 105°. Here comes the extreme heat again! Stay tuned
