NC Gov urging residents to still conserve water despite recent rainfall

RALEIGH, N.C. – Governor Josh Stein is urging North Carolinians to conserve water as the state continues to battle a nearly year-long drought.

Despite recent heavy rainfall, state officials warn that reservoirs and groundwater levels remain critically low.

Right now, 70 water systems across North Carolina are under mandatory water restrictions and 68 others have voluntary measures in place. Brunswick County remains the hardest hit.
