Rain return Saturday night into next week

As we kick off the first weekend of the month, temperatures will start climbing back into the lower 90s on Saturday, and you’ll definitely notice the humidity making a comeback. We’ll still see plenty of dry time with a mix of sunshine and clouds. Most communities won’t see any rain during the day, making Saturday the better choice if you’re trying to squeeze in outdoor plans.

The weather starts changing after sunset as moisture continues building across the Carolinas. A few showers and thunderstorms could pop up late Saturday night. It’s the first sign that our quiet weather pattern is beginning to break down.

By Sunday, summer settles right back in. Clouds will increase throughout the day, the air will feel much stickier, and showers and thunderstorms will become much more common, especially during the afternoon and evening. If you are looking for a minor dry slot that would be Sunday morning. The extra clouds and rain will keep temperatures in the mid-80s, but don’t expect it to feel cooler. It’ll have that tropical, muggy feel that’s hard to miss.

The active pattern doesn’t end with the weekend. Monday looks very similar, with a mix of clouds, scattered showers, and thunderstorms returning during the afternoon and evening hours. It won’t rain all day, but there will be several opportunities for downpours, so you’ll want to keep the umbrella close by. Afternoon highs will stay in the mid-80s, which is a few degrees below where we typically are this time of year.

 The atmosphere will stay loaded with moisture through much of next week, keeping daily chances for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast.
