Dangerous heat with feels like temperatures Friday near 107°
Heat and humidity continue into the weekend
Friday will be another very hot and humid day, with feels-like temperatures climbing into dangerous territory during the afternoon. Even a short period of time outdoors tomorrow into the weekend can be dangerous. It will remain mostly dry but an isolated shower can’t be ruled out.
Don’t count on nighttime temperatures to provide much relief. Lows will remain in the mid-70s, keeping things warm and sticky even after the sun goes down.
Saturday will be another hot and humid day, but we’ll have a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Storms could pop up during the afternoon and evening, and while we aren’t expecting everyone to get wet, any storm that develops could bring a quick, heavy downpour, frequent lightning and gusty winds. The humidity will remain high!
By Sunday, a cold front will approach the Carolinas, but it doesn’t appear likely to completely push through our area. Instead, the front could stall nearby, and that could become the focus for scattered thunderstorms. Some areas may get a few downpours while others stay mostly dry, all while the heat and humidity remains in place.
Where that front ultimately stalls will be key to the forecast. At this point daily rain and storm chances will continue with more heat. Stay tuned!
