Extreme heat continues with severe storms Saturday
A cool down moves in Sunday afternoon
Saturday is the day we’ll really have to watch. The heat and humidity will still be intense, and heat alerts are expected to remain in place. It will feel hot very quickly, and by the afternoon, conditions could become dangerous if you’re outside for an extended period of time.
On top of the heat, we’ll have another round of showers and thunderstorms developing. A few of these storms could become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and very heavy rain being the main concerns. The severe threat won’t be everywhere, but storms could develop and strengthen quickly, so make sure you have a way to get weather alerts if you’re heading out for the day. Timing right now is 4pm-8pm
The good news is that Saturday should be our last really hot day before we finally start turning the corner.
Sunday becomes our transition day. Cooler air will begin filtering in, and temperatures should start coming down. We could see some showers around as that change moves through, but right now, we’re not expecting widespread rain or a major weather disruption. Highs will drop back in the upper 80s.
Labor Day on Monday, and this is when the cooler air really settles in. After several days of oppressive heat, the difference should be noticeable. We’ll still have the chance for a few showers or thunderstorms, but temperatures will be much more comfortable, and those brutal feels-like temperatures finally take a break.
Tuesday keeps a more comfortable pattern going, but the heat returns mid-week!
