Quiet evening with storms returning Friday

Tonight will be quiet and warm across the region, with mostly clear skies. Temperatures won’t cool off as much as they have the past few nights, with lows settling into the 70s. It will still be comfortable, but you’ll notice the extra warmth hanging around.

By Friday, the heat really turns up. We’re looking at afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid-90s, with  building humidity making it feel even hotter. Heat index values reaching the triple digits during the afternoon.

We’ll stay mostly dry through the first part of Friday, but the weather becomes more active during the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop across the area. Any storm that pops up could bring a quick heavy downpour, frequent lightning and some strong wind gusts. Rain chances will increase into Friday evening with a level 1 in place for severe storms. Storm chances will gradually fade late Friday night, with temperatures dropping only into the lower 70s.

This weekend we’ll finally get a break from the worst of the heat. A weak front will slide through Saturday, knocking temperatures back into the upper 80s. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with a few afternoon showers or thunderstorms possible. Sunday looks quieter and drier, with sunshine returning and temperatures warming back near 90°. 

The heat will remain in place Monday, but as we head into Fall on Tuesday the season shift will be noticeable.  Highs return to the mid 80s and cooler air will be felt by Wednesday as the upper 70s make a comeback. This will be our last big run of the 90s so take it in!
