One more summer evening with a few storms

A major cool down come in for the start of Fall

Tonight, we’ll have a few showers and thunderstorms that will continue for most of the evening. With so much moisture in the air, any storm that develops could produce a quick round of heavy rain. Most areas will stay dry, with the bulk of the impacts across the mountains. A low risk of severe storms remains in place.

Tuesday is when we start to see the pattern shift. A little patchy fog is expected Tuesday morning before we get a mix of sunshine and clouds. By the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms become much more widespread as a front moves closer. Highs will be cooler, topping out in the mid 80s, but don’t expect the cooler temperatures to mean a quiet day. The afternoon and evening commute could be especially wet, with showers and storms continuing into Tuesday night as the front pushes through.

 

By Wednesday, we’ll finally get a break from the heat. It won’t exactly be a picture-perfect day, though. Expect plenty of clouds and periods of rain, with temperatures struggling to get much past the lower 70s.

Thursday brings another change, with drier air moving in and some sunshine returning. Temperatures will be very comfortable, with highs near 70 degrees. Then, just in time for the first weekend of fall, we’re looking at a much nicer stretch of weather. Skies will trend drier, temperatures will climb back into the mid to upper 70s, and that early taste of fall will be exactly what we’ve been waiting for.

Tropical Storm Fay formed over the weekend. Fay has zero threat to land. We are watching to see if it will make a run to being our first hurricane of the season, but that is unlikely.
