Repeat offender accused of attacking women with traffic cones at Dilworth gas station
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A repeat offender is accused of using a traffic cone to randomly attack women at the Circle K in Dilworth Sunday night.
“I didn’t do anything to provoke him. We didn’t have a conversation, nothing happened,” Assault Victim, Sandy Stirup said. “He threw the traffic cone at my head and it knocked me straight to the ground.”
In her TikTok video, Stirup says she was pumping gas when 32-year old Evin Sims hit her with a traffic cone.
“He threw it with so much force. I fell back into the pole at the f—– gas station and also scraped up my knee in the process,” Stirup said.
Sims is also accused of assaulting another woman that same night and communicating threats.
“I just want it to be known that this happened. So other people will look, other people will hopefully have their head on the swivel a little bit more and maybe think twice about a random person,” Stirup said.
Sims has been arrested multiple times since August. On September 19th, he was accused of threatening people at CATS Tyvola Station where they say he threw an unknown substance on kids. He bonded out 5 days before Stirup says she was assaulted.
“It shouldn’t take for someone to literally be stabbed or murdered for someone to be put away for a while for assault, because obviously they are a danger to society,” Stirup said. “So, I don’t know how we like reform this whole thing, but we need to figure out something collectively.”
Sims is currently in the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
