Clear and quiet evening with more sunshine to finish this week

Cooling down heading into the weekend

Tonight: Once the sun goes down, temperatures will begin to tumble, setting us up for another cool October night. Skies stay mostly clear, and you’ll probably want to grab a light jacket if you’re heading out.

Thursday and Friday: Get ready for another couple of fantastic fall days! Sunshine will be the big weather story as afternoon temperatures climb into the middle 70s.

We do have another cold front heading our way late Friday into Friday night. This front doesn’t have much moisture to work with. That means we’re not expecting much rainfall as it moves through. Most neighborhoods will likely stay completely dry.

The Weekend: We’ll notice a little difference in the temperatures once that front passes. Saturday looks to be the coldest day of the week, with afternoon highs only reaching the upper 60s, with sunshine sticking around.

Sunday brings more of that classic Carolina fall weather. Expect plenty of sunshine with temperatures generally in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

Early Next Week: Our little cooldown won’t last long. Temperatures begin climbing again as we head into Monday and Tuesday, with afternoon highs returning to the 70s.

Coastal Low Continues Moving Away

We’re keeping an eye on an area of low pressure that has been spinning offshore of the Carolinas. This system is actually gaining strength as it tracks north toward New England, with sustained winds around 60 mph.

The good news for North Carolina is that the storm continues to pull farther away. Any lingering impacts along the Outer Banks should become more limited. Stay tuned!
