
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A grand jury has indicted the man accused of killing his girlfriend and then calling police to report her missing. ย
Court documents state the grand jury returned a true bill of indictment against Angelo Smith for first degree murder. ย He is accused of killing Bianca Tanner and then hiding her body. ย
He told police she left his house after they got into an argument over a text message. ย Her body was found several weeks after she was first reported missing. ย
Smith was taken into custody near Chicago by US Marshals. ย He was wanted for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. ย Police extradited him to Charlotte and then charged him with Tanner’s murder. ย Sources say he admitted to strangling her to death. ย
Tanner had recently moved to Charlotte and was trying to get a job as a teacher with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.ย
