CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The building at 200 S. Tryon St. that includes the McCormick and Schmick’s restaurant received reports of ‘shaking’ Tuesday around 10:45 a.m.
The 18-floor building that was built in the 1960’s was evacuated while officials investigated.
Maintenance told the Charlotte Fire Department the movement was caused by a broken belt on the air handler system.
The building was cleared and reopened just before noon.
