MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Bastian Schweinsteiger scored in the 67th minute to offset a goal by Nemanja Vidic, then was ejected near the final whistle as defending champion Bayern Munich tied Manchester United 1-1 Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.
In the night’s other match, Neymar’s 71st-minute goal gave Barcelona a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid after the visitors went ahead on Diego’s stunning long-range shot.
United, seventh in the English Premier League under first-year manager David Moyes, took the lead in the 58th minute on Vidic’s header from a corner kick. Schweinsteiger scored on a half-volley but got his second yellow card of the game in the 90th for a foul on Wayne Rooney.
Second legs of the total-goals series are April 9. In first legs Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain hosts Chelsea and Real Madrid is home against Borussia Dortmund.
