HOYLAKE, England (AP) β€” British Open officials are trying to complete the third round amid reports of bad weather today, asking half the field to start their rounds from the 10th hole for the first time in tournament history. Rory McIlroy had a four-shot lead over Dustin Johnson at the midway point after firing his second straight 6-under 66 yesterday. Johnson is two strokes ahead of Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia and four others.

SYLVANIA, Ohio (AP) β€” Laura Diaz remains the leader heading into the third round of the Marathon Classic in Ohio, three shots ahead of Lydia Ko and Lee-Anne Pace. Diaz had four birdies down the stretch yesterday for a 2-under 69 and an 11-under total. She is seeking her first LPGA victory since 2002.

ATLANTA (AP) β€” The Atlanta Braves have requested unconditional release waivers for struggling second baseman Dan Uggla (UG’-lah), who was hitting .162 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 48 games. The Braves still owe Uggla $18 million through next season.

MIAMI (AP) β€” Udonis Haslem (yoo-DAH’-nihs HAZ’-lehm) has signed a two-year, $5.6 million contract with the Miami Heat. Haslem has spent all 11 of his NBA seasons with the Heat and is the franchise’s all-time rebounds leader. He and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade are the only players to appear on all three of Miami’s championship teams.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β€” The Minnesota Vikings will suspend special teams coordinator Mike Priefer without pay for three games this season and donate $100,000 to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights groups. The punishment is in response to former punter Chris Kluwe’s (KLOO’-eez) allegations of anti-gay slurs and taunts made by Priefer. The Vikings released a summary of the investigation by outside lawyers that was initiated in January, when Kluwe first accused Priefer and other Vikings officials of punishing him for his support of gay marriage.
