CHARLOTTE, NC — A family’s home in Northwest Charlotte is covered in nearly 100 bullet holes. They’re asking for your help to find out who is responsible.
Keith Phifer says ten seconds is all it took for gunmen to spray his home with 63 bullets.
“It was terrifying and horrifying,” said Phifer.
Horror that’s now marked as evidence. Phifer woke to gunfire just after midnight Sunday. He, his wife and two sons laid down to avoid shots.
“I was traumatized by the whole experience," said Phifer.
Police tell him the gunmen used an AK-47 rifle and three handguns to do the damage.
His car windows are blown out. The car itself, Phifer says, is a total loss because a bullet hit the engine.
Tuesday, officers stopped to talk to a neighbor whose home was also hit by bullets.
Others heard it and hid with their children.
“I just charged out of my room,” said one mother. “Because it was loud right here.”
She asked us to hide her identity in fear of the gunmen.
Phifer says witnesses reported seeing men standing in the roadway shooting his home.
Police won’t reveal if they know a possible motive behind the shooting.
“If you have difference or things bothering you,” said Phifer, “There’s other ways of handing it without violence.”
He just wants to know who and why.
