More Wrestlers Take The Stand In Former Coach Sex Abuse Trial

GASTONIA, N.C. — Former wrestlers testified Tuesday in their high school coach Gary Goins sex abuse trial.

The sex allegations against Goins date back to the 1990’s.

One wrestler took the stand and says he was hazed but didn’t feel it was sexual at the time. He says he was stripped and duct taped to other young wrestlers by the older ones.

A victim’s younger brother testified saying that he trained with Goins in the 4th and 5th grade. He says he cried while being physically abused on summer tournament trips as Goins laughed.

Gary Goins faces nearly 25 sex charges involving former East Gaston High School students.

In a previous testimony, a student told prosecutors that he and other teammates were forced to simulate a sex act.

Defense attorneys say Goins never abused anyone.
