Third Suspect Arrested, Charged For Fatal Northeast Charlotte Shooting Of 18-Year-Old

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested a third suspect for their involvement in the northeast Charlotte shooting that left an 18-year-old dead in December 2021.

Through a continued investigation, detectives identified 18-year-old Donte Jones as the third suspect in the homicide case of Jan Ramirez Andino.

According to a news release, arrest warrants were obtained for murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police say the warrants were served on Jones, who was already in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges.

Police have arrested two suspects for their involvement in the fatal northeast Charlotte shooting that left an 18-year-old dead in December.

Through an investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg homicide detectives identified 19-year-old Ka’ron Commander and 18-year-old Cameron Hargrove as the suspects in the homicide case of Jan Ramirez Andino. Warrants were then issued for their arrest.

Police located, arrested, and transported both suspects to CMPD’s Law Enforcement Center Thursday to be interviewed by homicide detectives.

Following the interview both suspects were transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where they have been charged with 1st degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon intention to kill, according to authorities.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Detectives are investigating a homicide in northeast Charlotte after a victim was shot and killed early Thursday morning .

Officers responded to the scene on Deergreen Lane around 6 a.m. to find a victim, later identified as 18-year-old Jan Ramirez Andino, with an apparent gunshot wound inside of an apartment.

Detectives say Andino was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
