MAIDEN, N.C. — A 20-year-old Maiden man was arrested Friday for the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the police department.
Maiden police identified Gavin Matthews as the suspect in the case after receiving information that he was suspected of being in possession of child pornography.
Following the investigation, Matthews was arrested by Maiden Police officers with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. Matthews is facing five felony charges of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the police department.
Police say additional charges against Matthews is possible.
The investigation by Maiden Police is active and ongoing.
