CHARLOTTE, NC — Neighbors are telling a reported attacker to watch out after a woman was assaulted while jogging in the busy Highland Creek Parkway area just after noon Wednesday.
“Why would you have the guts to come into a neighborhood that is so busy and attempt something so stupid in the middle of the day?” said Sarah Zdeb.Β
Β
She says it was before 2:30pm, and just before parents walked their children home from the nearby school when someone near Ridge Road and Highland Creek assaulted the victim.
Β
The victim got away without serious injuries, but investigators warn the attack could have escalated to something more violent.Β
Β
Police sent an e-mail to the neighborhood, warning them to be vigilant, mindful of areas where someone can hide, and to report any suspicious activity.
Β
However, here, it’s the women telling the attacker to be careful.
Β
“We’re very connected in this neighborhood, and you don’t know who that female is,” said Zdeb. “Just Because you think a female is an easy target, you need to be really careful because… you never know what you’re going to get back.”
Β
Police only have a vague description of the suspect. They say he was a black male, approximately 6’2″ tall, 18-20 years old, slim build, short hair, clean shaven. He was wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts, and black socks and shoes.
