LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) β€” World No. 1 Rory McIlroy shot a 67 and takes a one-shot lead into the weekend at the PGA Championship over Australian Jason Day and Jim Furyk (FYOOR’-ihk). First round co-leader Ryan Palmer is two shots off the lead along with Rickie Fowler and Mikko Iloen. Phil Mickelson eagled the 18th and lurks three off the lead.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) β€” Tiger Woods will be heading home for the weekend after missing the cut at the PGA Championship. The four-time champ shot a 3-over 74 and finished six over par for his two rounds. Woods has not won a major since 2008 and remains at 14 major titles, four behind all-time leader Jack Nicklaus.

ATLANTA (AP) β€” Brothers B.J. and Justin Upton and Freddie Freeman all touched Stephen Strasburg with early home runs and Tommy LaStella added a solo shot as the Atlanta Braves snapped their eight-game losing streak by holding off Washington 7-6. The loss cuts the Nationals lead to three and a-half games over the Braves.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” Major League Baseball cannot hide behind its antitrust exemption to fend off a lawsuit from fans who say the league unjustly dictates television markets for its ballclubs. That’s what U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin has ruled after two lawsuits were brought by fans against MLB and the National Hockey League to stop their strict control over TV broadcast rights.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) β€” A federal judge has ruled against the NCAA in the landmark Ed O’Bannon lawsuit, saying the NCAA can’t stop college football and basketball players from selling rights to their names and likenesses. But U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken, in a partial victory for the NCAA, said the NCAA could set a cap on the money paid to athletes, as long as it allows at least $5,000 a year for big school football and basketball players.
