Hope is an Open Door

Charlotte, NC, August 6, 2014 — “Hope is an Open Door,” ArtWorks 945‘s Annual Art Show features work from Charlotte artists who struggle with homelessness. Hosted on September 13, 2014 from 4-7pm by the Urban Ministry Center, this exhibit showcases how the ArtWorks 945 program is a place of hope where art opens the door to an a range of possibilities. ArtWorks 945, an outreach program of the Urban Ministry Center, uses art to connect with individuals who struggle with homelessness. The work featured in “Hope is an Open Door” was created in the past year during studio time offered at the Urban Ministry Center. All proceeds from the sale go towards supporting the ArtWorks 945 program and artists. By engaging in the empowering act of making art, ArtWorks 945 participants are able to learn life skills, and open doors out of homelessness. For featured artist Tiffany, hope is family, encouragement, and having someone to talk to. Tiffany says, “I‘m hopeful for my own home, and to accomplish things.” This free, family-friendly art show highlights the work of up to fifty artists, and spans various media including: drawing, oil and acrylic paint, and other crafts. The show is open from 4-7pm and is held at the Urban Ministry Center at 945 N. College St. Private viewings of the artwork are available by appointment.
