CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Drivers should expect significant delays after a dump truck transporting gravel overturned on a busy interstate in South Charlotte. The spill happened on I-485 near Rea Road just before 4 p.m.Β
Troopers on the scene tell WCCB that traffic was slowing in the area. The driver of the dump truck attempted to cross lanes to avoid hitting cars but tipped over.Β
The driver was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.Β
The road remains closed at this time.
