Β CHARLOTTE, NC — The budget for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools could be in limbo until state lawmakers settle on a spending plan.
Superintendent Ann Clark presented the $428 million budget to County Commissioners Tuesday. Β It asks for about $40 million more than last year. Β Clark says a decision could hinge on how much money CMS gets from the state.
“It feels a little bit of a guessing game,” said Clark. Β “In terms of trying to apply your best thinking, in terms of what you should advance, what you think you can expect, versus what you’re unclear about.”
About $16 million in the budget would go to teacher and staff pay raises.
