CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A middle school teacher with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system has been arrested and charged in a child pornography case Tuesday, according to police.
The investigation into the possession and distribution of illegal pornographic material was sparked on Nov. 24, 2021 by CMPD Cyber Crimes Unit and the FBI.
CMPD, along with the Matthews Police Department, conducted a search warrant on a Courtney Lane residence in Matthews Tuesday. During the search, officers found physical evidence of the crime of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Adrian Taylor, was present at the residence at the time of the search, police said.
According to authorities, through the continued investigation Taylor was identified as an employee of the CMS system. He was arrested at the scene.
After an interview with detectives, Taylor was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail and charged with three counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Taylor worked at Community House Middle School and is currently suspended with pay as of Tuesday, according to CMS officials. Taylor is listed as a language arts teacher on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools website.
This investigation is in its early stages.
